More expensive models include stands that can also swivel, raise and lower the monitor’s height, and pivot 90 degrees into portrait mode.
#BEST 34 INCH MONITOR REDDIT 1080P#
Price: Good 24-inch 1080p monitors generally cost $100 to $150.Built-in USB hubs for connecting keyboards, mice, webcams, and other accessories are also nice to have. If a monitor includes a USB-C port that can receive a video signal from a laptop and provide power to it at the same time, that’s a bonus. Budget 24-inch monitors usually also include an old-school analog VGA port. Ports: At a minimum, a monitor should have an HDMI connection or DisplayPort for connecting to a computer ideally, a monitor will have both.TN panels are cheaper, but not by much, and IPS panels offer better viewing angles and color reproduction. Display technology: Look for monitors that use IPS (in-plane switching) display panels, not TN (twisted nematic) panels. If you’re willing to spend more, taller monitors with a 1920×1200-pixel resolution can provide more usable screen space without an increase in footprint. At this size, 1080p resolution (1920×1080 pixels) will look reasonably sharp, and text and images should be large enough for most people to see without straining their eyes. Size and resolution: We focus on 24-inch monitors because they’re bigger than any laptop display, but they’re cheaper than a 27-inch monitor and take up less space.Anyway, it might be something worth considering. Oh, and FWIW, both the GP and the GN are covered by the same LG manual. So I can only run at 1080p (but at least I know the OSD's full-width-vs-original-width selection works correctly).
Can't speak to its supposedly great response time specs yet, because until I get a new system in a few months I'm still using it with my old system (10 years old last month!).
(And good factory calibration.) It supports FreeSync and LG's web page for the GP claims it's officially certified by Nvidia as G-Sync compatible, though last I checked it wasn't listed as such on Nvidia's web page for that, as the GN was. It's still wide color gamut - I love how the colors "pop" on the two I got for myself and a friend - with a good sRGB mode if you need to limit the colors to the "standard" range. Ignore them and keep checking when Amazon gets a shipment scheduled in, they'll list it for $799 from themselves.) The GP only comes with a single DP cable, rather than also including the others that the GN comes with. (If you see the GP for several hundred $ more, that's from the 3rd party sellers. The GP is available for $799 from Amazon - apparently only from there, leading some to think it's an Amazon-only "refresh" of the GN - which is about $200 less than I've seen the GN for. (Rtings rated the GN slightly better in a few ways, but still had high praise for the GP.) A bunch of folks on Reddit have said that functionally, the GP seems virtually identical to the GN (which went into my willingness to buy 2 recently, 1 for me and 1 for a friend), though Rtings' recent review did find a few response differences. If you're considering getting the 34GN850-B, you might want to consider the 34GP83A-B. FWIW, here's a copy-and-paste-and-slight-edit of some info I've been posting around the last couple months, when I see someone considering buying the 34GN850-B:
